Looking Ahead to Australia 2026:
Trials and Player Selection Update
As we begin preparations for Australia 2026, we want to be transparent about our selection process and acknowledge the journey to this point.
Trials were previously held in 2023 and 2024, with many talented athletes participating. From those sessions, we are confident that we selected the best available players to represent Australia at the World Championships in Sweden. We fully support their ability and commitment to the national team.
As we now look toward the next cycle and consider potential new additions, please take note of the following key points:
If you participated in the 2023 or 2024 trials and were not selected, your chances of selection in 2026 remain the same, unless you have made significant improvements both physically and technically.
We are not seeking the same player who trialled previously with no clear growth.
If your fitness, gameplay, and attitude are at the same level as before, you should not expect to be selected.
The performance of the current Walkaroos squad heading to Sweden will play a key role in shaping future selections.
Three Key Scenarios That Will Shape Future Selections:
Walkaroos players underperform in Sweden
→ This may open doors for new or returning players who have significantly elevated their game.Walkaroos players impress and meet or exceed expectations
→ This will reinforce the direction and confidence in the current squad.Previously trialled players show measurable improvement
→ These individuals may be reconsidered—but only if they demonstrate clear and consistent progress on both technical and physical levels.
We are committed to excellence, growth, and progress.
If you are training hard, improving your fitness, refining your skills, and growing as a player, your opportunity may come. But if you're standing still, others are moving forward.
Let your actions speak. We’re watching.
