THE JOURNEY TO FRANCE 2027 HAS BEGUN!

We are getting prepared for another exciting venture to France

We are incredibly proud to announce that our Walking Football Australia WalkAroos Trials journey to France 2027 is well underway, with 2 of our 5 States — Queensland and New South Wales — now having completed their trials over the past two weeks.

And what a journey it is already proving to be!

With more than 185 players listed to be assessed for France 2027, the passion, commitment and desire to represent Australia on the international Walking Football stage has been truly inspiring.

Over the past four years, the Walking Football Australia WalkAroos Trials Program has been built around some very simple principles:

  • Fairness

  • Opportunity

  • Professional organisation

  • Consistent assessment

  • Respect for every player

Our aim has always been to create a program where every player can step onto the field knowing they will be given a fair, transparent and well-organised opportunity to demonstrate their ability — regardless of where they come from or who they know.

SELECTION IS EARNED ON THE FIELD NOT OVER A PHONE CALL

One thing we are particularly proud of is that our selection process is exactly that — a selection process.

With more than 185 players registered to be assessed for France 2027, players are coming through the same structured trials, assessments and selection process. Nothing is being taken for granted, and no player should assume their place is guaranteed.

Over the past four years, we have consistently worked to ensure that selection is earned on the field, through ability, performance, attitude, teamwork and the qualities required to represent Australia at an international level.

There will always be speculation whenever representative teams are being selected, but rather than respond to rumours or opinions, we believe the best answer is to simply show people how we operate.

Our trials are open, structured and transparent, with selectors assessing players and recording their observations throughout the process.

The evidence will ultimately be in the selections themselves.

We are incredibly proud of the fact that players can walk onto the field knowing they have a genuine opportunity to put their best foot forward.

That is what fair selection should look like.

No promises. No shortcuts. Just the opportunity to earn your place.

As we continue to grow, we continue to learn, refine and improve the process. That's how we make the WalkAroos program stronger for everyone.

But none of this happens without people.

There have been so many players, selectors, coordinators, volunteers, clubs and supporters putting in tremendous effort behind the scenes to make these trials happen.
