Code of Conduct > Criteria
1. Respect and Inclusivity
- Treat everyone with respect, including teammates, opponents, referees, and spectators. 
- Promote an inclusive environment where players of all ages, genders, abilities, and backgrounds feel welcome and valued. 
- No tolerance for discriminatory, offensive, or abusive behavior. 
2. Fair Play
- Abide by the official Walking Football rules: no running, minimal physical contact, and no slide tackles. 
- Play in the spirit of the game, prioritising fun, fitness, and camaraderie over winning. 
- Accept referees’ decisions without argument or protest, and encourage others to do the same. 
3. Safety First
- Play safely and avoid endangering yourself or others. Respect the "no contact" rule and avoid aggressive play. 
- If you are injured or feel unwell, stop playing and seek assistance if necessary. 
- Ensure your footwear and equipment are appropriate for Walking Football to minimize injury risks. 
4. Supportive Community
- Be supportive of all participants, especially those who are new or less experienced. 
- Offer encouragement and guidance where appropriate. 
- Foster a positive and uplifting atmosphere, both during and after matches. 
- Celebrate team achievements and individual contributions, regardless of the outcome of games. 
5. Enjoyment and Participation
- Remember that Walking Football is primarily about having fun, staying active, and socializing. 
- Focus on participation, teamwork, and enjoyment, rather than on competition or results. 
- Ensure all players get an equal opportunity to be involved, and avoid behaviors that exclude or sideline others. 
6. Sportsmanship
- Maintain good sportsmanship at all times, whether winning or losing. Shake hands with opponents and thank referees after the game. 
- Avoid excessive celebration or behavior that could be interpreted as disrespectful toward opponents. 
- Lead by example in promoting friendly and fair play. 
7. Commitment to Walkaroos Values
- Represent Walking Football Australia Walkaroos with pride, both on and off the field. 
- Strive to embody the values of respect, teamwork, fairness, and community in all interactions. 
- Take responsibility for your actions and encourage others to adhere to this Code of Conduct. 
8. Familiarity with the Laws of the Game (LOTG)
- All players, referees, and coaches should be familiar with the basic Laws of the Game (LOTG) specific to Walking Football. 
- It is the responsibility of each player to understand key rules, such as no running, minimal contact, and the prohibition of slide tackles. 
- Players should respect and follow any modifications or local adaptations of the LOTG as implemented by Walking Football Australia. 
- If unsure of any rules, players are encouraged to seek clarification from referees or organizers to ensure fair play and consistency. 
- By being aware of the LOTG, players help maintain a fair, enjoyable, and well-organized game for everyone. 
This addition encourages all participants to know and respect the specific rules of Walking Football, ensuring a smooth and fair experience for all involved.
